Giving a Hand Up to Those in Need
The Ashby Utting Endowment Fund is a charitable organisation dedicated to providing financial support and resources to other charitable causes, including microfinancing, the arts, environmental initiatives, and programs benefiting indigenous communities. Through our endowment, we aim to make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need across the country.
In 2006 Professor Muhammad Yunus won the Nobel Peace Prize for his discourse on microfinancing including making small loans to people below the poverty line to start and operate small businesses thus enhancing their family’s wellbeing and having multiplier effects on whole communities. Established banks would not undertake such lending because of perceived contractual securities risks. He established the Grameen bank which now operates worldwide with great success along with many other similarly operating micro finance institutions. Millions of families worldwide enjoy heightened aspirations and living standards in their daily lives having brought themselves out of poverty with their achievements.
We are proud to support a variety of charities who support and empower those in need.
